Core stability improvements

Single-threaded vs. Multi-threaded applications

We are continuously refining our systems for performance and user experience. To this end, we’ve recently added a single-threaded mode to our formerly multi-threaded exclusive operation. In single-threading, one thread of execution is processed at a time, bringing simplicity and predictability, albeit at the cost of occasional application pauses. For instance, when loading a file, the entire application focuses on this operation, momentarily freezing other functions. On the other hand, multi-threading allows simultaneous execution of multiple tasks. This parallel processing keeps the application responsive and swift, especially with complex and resource-intensive tasks. The integration of both modes in Incari Studio is our response to the diverse needs of our users, allowing them to choose the operation mode that best fits their project requirements and computational constraints.

Render Engine

The render engine is responsible for generating realistic images or animations from 3D models or scenes. During the rendering process the interactions of light, shadows, textures, and other aspects of the scene are calculated to produce a final image. A strong, stable, and steadfast render engine is key for any visual production. Key elements like compatibility, customizations, and performance need to continuously be enhanced for the best possible results. Here is what we have implemented with Incari Studio 2023.1:

• Extended compatibility for OpenGL ES 3.0: OpenGL ES 3.0 is the graphics rendering API optimized for smaller devices with limited processing power and memory. It supports 3D textures and texture arrays, advanced shading techniques, and has improved blending and anti-aliasing capabilities.
• Render-to-texture: This graphic rendering technology allows you to render your 3D and 2D scenes to a texture, essentially creating an image. You can place this texture in another scene as a texture map for other objects or combine it with other textures to create more complex effects.
• KTX support: KTX formatting support allows for faster loading times and optimized memory usage. This OpenGL and Open GL ES container format for textures provide efficient compression and streaming of textures.
• Time-based playback: This enhancement is specific to Lottie. The playback method is no longer frame-based but time-based. This gives you more precise control over the animation timing and allows for smoother playbacks.

A new look for Incari

For a more intuitive workflow, Incari has undergone a variety of UX and UI improvements. With the release of Incari Studio 2023.1, we are also introducing new Incari branding elements such as new icons, design elements, and logos. In the workspace, the gizmos for both 2D and 3D have a new look and feel for easier and more instinctive usage. Integrate your personalized nodes with the pre-existing ones to construct more intricate and expansive HMI architectures.

Extended Lottie support for high-quality animations

With Lottie, adding animations to your HMI solution is easier than ever before. With this JSON-based animation file format, your loading and shipping times decrease and you can scale without risking pixelation. With Incari Studio 2023.1 Lottie support has been extended and optimized. There is support for a wider variety of file sizes, ensuring that users have greater control over the resolution of their projects. Time-based rendering is also included, allowing for greater precision in animation timing and playback. Extended communication protocols

In today’s rapidly advancing technological landscape, communication protocols play a vital role in enabling seamless integration and data exchange in industrial and IoT applications. The protocol defines the communication rules, syntax, and semantics ensuring understandable and structured data exchanges.

Incari Studio 2022.2 supports an extended variety of Communication Protocols, such as:

• TCP: Transmission Control Protocol is a part of the Internet protocol suite used for communication over the Internet.

• HTTP: Hypertext Transfer Protocol communicates between web servers and clients allowing for the exchange of data and information across the internet.

• MQTT: Message Queuing Telemetry Transport supports communicating between devices and is commonly used in Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

• CAN: Controller Area Networks are often used in embedded systems for real-time communication between various devices.

• MAVLink: Micro Air Vehicle Link is a lightweight protocol developed for communication between unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground control systems (GCSs).

• Serial: This protocol allows users to connect to serial devices such as a GPS through USB or serial ports.

Extended nodes

Incari Studio Nodes are elements in the Logic Editor that represent different logical operations or data types. The Logic Editor is a visual programming interface used for creating custom behaviors and interactions within Incari Studio. With each release, we aim to extend and optimize our nodes to give you more and improved functionalities.

• Mouse Event Nodes: Mouse Nodes are a powerful toolbox of interactive elements enabling users to easily create interactive and responsive applications with mouse-based input. For example, you could create a button that changes color when the mouse hovers over it or a slider that adjusts its value based on the position of the mouse cursor.

• Input and Output Nodes: IO Nodes allow users to interact with external systems and data sources, enabling a range of powerful integrations and workflows. Quickly connect to and extract data from databases, files, APIs, and other sources, and then manipulate that data within their Incari Studio workflows. New nodes include getting the current directory, getting file extensions, removing objects, and listing directory contents.

Structure of objects in a scene

The Scene Objects are the building blocks of your project. They now follow a tree-like structure. Each object, except the Root Object, has a parent and can have children. This allows any object to be placed under another object as its child. The Root Object functions as the parent of all Objects.
