Celebrating Malte Decker’s two years at Incari

The Human-Machine Interface is the backbone of a good user experience. Bridging the gap between humans and machines, systems, or devices through an effective HMI ensures smooth interactions. With Incari Studio, the creation of this seamless experience has been simplified, courtesy of its visual coding capabilities, 3D first approach, and steep learning curve. But post-development, the pivotal step is choosing the right player to bring your HMI designs to life.

Introducing Malte: A creative force at Incari

I grew up in Oldenburg, Germany; after starting an apprenticeship as a photographer, my curiosity led me to the University of Berlin HTW, where I pursued my interest in game design. During my studies, we did a lot of small group projects which actually led to a full game which you can find on Steam today. LIT – Bend the light. This and other games we designed helped me learn quite a broad set of skills such as programming, project management, presentations, and pitching skills.

Joining the Incari Family from art to innovation

In 2021, I found Incari and I was drawn in by their vision of human-centric technology. I began as a 3D artist, working on projects for companies such as Porsche and delving into aviation UI and 3D marketing content. However, as time went on, my role evolved.

After about half a year I moved to the technical side of things and became a Technical Artist. Management recognized my drive to grow, and provided an opportunity for me to transition into a more dynamic role focused on internal project realization, research, and development.

Contributing to the Future: My Impact at Incari

One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been the trust and opportunities I’ve been given at Incari. I’ve been able to initiate projects, take on responsibilities, and challenge myself in new ways. From working on demonstrator projects to driving initiatives that enhance user experience, I’ve witnessed firsthand how Incari’s values of innovation, thoughtfulness, and open-mindedness come to life.

A Culture of Innovation: Incari’s Unique Environment

Incari’s work culture is unlike any other I’ve experienced. It’s a startup-like atmosphere where open communication and collaboration thrive. One of the most remarkable aspects is our unity and how genuinely nice everyone is. This reflects the mutual respect and friendship that define our interactions. With a young and vibrant team, we’re united by a common vision to drive progress.

Advice for new employees

My advice to new members is simple: Be yourself. At Incari, individuality is celebrated, and you won’t need to fit a mold. The path involves embracing your unique perspective and contributing to the innovative spirit that defines our company.

Unpacking the power of prefabs in Incari Studio 2023.1

Incari Studio, a leading tool in HMI development, offers a broad array of features designed to streamline the creation process and enhance collaborative efforts among designers, developers, and engineers. One integral feature that significantly improves the Incari user experience is the use of prefabs.

Revolutionizing object creation with prefabs

Prefabs stands for prefabricated objects and allow users to build multiple individual instances of a combination of objects and make changes across all instances. The potential benefits are huge: Users can easily create several objects with similar functionality, yet with unique properties, using overrides. Additionally, each Prefab encapsulates its logic, meaning changes to a Prefab’s logic are automatically enacted across all instances.

Harnessing the power of prefabs in Incari Studio

In Incari Studio, prefabs bring a new level of efficiency and consistency to the development process. Users can leverage these objects to avoid redundant logic and ensure uniformity. For example, imagine an object with various elements you want to reuse for various projects. With minor alterations, you could for example reuse a clock and alter minor details to change the look and feel, while keeping the same base structure and functionality. Being able to transfer the base logic and design between these instances with a single click – that’s the power of prefabs in Incari Studio.

Moreover, prefabs can be packed with all the necessary assets and logic into a single exportable asset, making them easy to share and re-import in other projects. This ability enhances the collaborative workflow and allows teams to construct a consistent reusable asset library, dramatically increasing efficiency.

Nested prefabs: the game changer

The flexibility of Incari Studio extends to the concept of Nested prefabs. A Nested Prefab is an instance of a Prefab stored within another Prefab. Developers can create individual prefabs and then combine them to form more complex structures while maintaining the flexibility and the advantages of Prefabs. Nested prefabs offer a powerful and efficient way to design, develop, and manage assets. They promote modularity, ensure consistency, and streamline the development process, making them an indispensable tool in HMI development.

Enhanced 2D workflow with prefab support

With the release of Incari Studio 2023.1, we have introduced support for 2D prefabs. Users can now build, adapt, and reuse 2D prefabs across projects, further streamlining the design and development process.

By enabling a higher degree of consistency, efficiency, and flexibility in design and logic, prefabs make it possible for users to create more complex and immersive HMIs. As we continue to innovate and expand the functionalities of prefabs, we’re committed to providing an intuitive, collaborative, and powerful platform for HMI development, allowing teams to reduce development time and build next-generation user experiences.
